Roivluzione by Massimo Sordi interprets the coastal landscape as a field of continuous transformations, where erosion, sedimentation, and disintegration constantly redefine the form of the territory. The cliffs of Ortona stand out as stratified masses traversed by different temporalities, in which the action of the sea and atmospheric agents makes visible the constitutive instability of the landscape. The project brings together geology, cosmology, and representation also through images drawn from the astronomical texts of Galileo Galilei and Donato Rossetti on the systems of the world of Aristotle, Copernicus, and Tycho. Sunspots and cosmological diagrams undermine the idea of a stable universe, just as coastal erosion destabilises the perception of land as a permanent form. Terrestrial and celestial surfaces thus enter into relation within a shared dynamic of transformation of matter and image.
