Join the construction of the photographic atlas of the Italian coastline

Coastlines today represent one of the most dynamic and vulnerable territories in Italy. They concentrate the effects of climate change, processes of erosion and land consumption, together with the pressures exerted by infrastructure, productive activities, tourism and urbanisation.

Mapping Italian Coast is a platform dedicated to the collection, enhancement and dissemination of photographic projects on the Italian coastline. The project aims to gradually build a collective photographic atlas of the Italian coast, through the perspectives of authors who investigate its transformations, fragilities, contradictions and potentials. Conceived as an evolving archive, the platform gathers and connects research from different geographical contexts which, taken together, help recompose the Italian coastline as a single territorial and narrative figure, restoring its complexity and fragmentation.

The call is open to photographers, artists, researchers and authors who have developed a project focused on the Italian coastline. Both completed or published works and ongoing research are eligible, provided they are characterised by a clear documentary approach and a solid investigative engagement with the territory.

To participate, applicants must complete the form on this page by submitting a link to an online folder (Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or similar) containing the application materials. The folder must include:
a selection of project images (max 20 images);
a project statement (max 1500 characters);
a short biography of the author (max 1000 characters).

The authors of the selected projects will be contacted within one month after the application deadline. Their works will be published on the Mapping Italian Coast platform.
We regret to inform applicants that we will not be able to respond to projects that are not selected, nor provide individual feedback.
